Border guards record a decrease in the number of attempts of illegal departure from Ukraine.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine announced a decrease in the number of attempts at illegal border crossings. Compared to previous years, statistics show a positive trend, indicating an improvement in the border situation. This was reported on the "Unified News" program by SBGS spokesperson Andriy Demchenko.
According to border guards, in September there were 30% fewer cases of illegal border crossings compared to the same period last year. Experts attribute this decrease to strengthened border control, increased cooperation with international partners, and greater public awareness of the legal consequences of illegal crossings.
"Since August, we have seen a trend of decreasing attempts at illegal border crossings. And now, in recent days, no increase in attempts to illegally cross the border has been recorded," Demchenko said.
According to him, most cases of illegal border crossings occur outside of checkpoints. On legal routes, such attempts are significantly fewer.
"There, people try to use forged documents, hide in vehicles, or find other tricks to cross the state border," explained the SBGS spokesperson.
Recall that earlier it was reported that during martial law in Ukraine, law enforcement discovered more than 600 organized criminal groups that helped men of conscription age leave the country and go abroad.
By the way, border guards showed on video what Snake Island looks like, from which the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet "Moskva" was sent on a "long voyage".
It was also previously reported that the largest number of indictments against members of groups organizing illegal border crossings since the beginning of 2024 was recorded in the Odessa region.
