PrivatBank explained the rules regarding credit limits after a pensioner's complaint.
One of PrivatBank's clients complained about a credit limit being set without her knowledge. Pensioner Natalka F. contacted the bank via social media to ask if she could opt out of this limit.
The woman expressed her concern about transferring her pension to another bank to avoid the credit line. "I am a pensioner with a small pension. Is it necessary to transfer my pension to another bank to avoid having a credit limit? I have never taken out loans and do not want to start," she noted.
In response, a PrivatBank representative explained: "A credit card implies the presence of a credit limit according to the terms of the contract. The bank analyzes information and can increase or decrease the credit limit on the card."
The bank offered an alternative for clients who do not want a credit limit. "If you want to have only a debit card, you can open a 'Payout Card' - it does not provide for a credit limit," the PrivatBank representative said.
This situation had previously occurred with another bank client who faced an unexpected increase in their credit limit. At that Time, PrivatBank explained its policy, noting that it analyzes many factors when changing limits, including the presence of loans in other institutions, debts, salary accruals, and card usage activity.
