In the center of Tbilisi, there were violent clashes between law enforcement officers and participants of the protest due to the parliament's decision to refuse negotiations with the EU. Thousands of protesters gathered near the office of the 'Georgian Dream' party and the parliament building, outraged by actions that contradict the Constitution, reports Newsgeorgia.

The participants of the protest also tried to break into the parliament building, but the police responded with tear gas and water cannons.

The President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili joined the action on Rustaveli Avenue and tried to mediate between the protesters and the police, asking the law enforcement officers whom they serve and for what money.

Earlier, a spontaneous rally took place near the office of the 'Georgian Dream' party due to the Prime Minister's statement about Georgia's refusal to negotiate with the EU. Hundreds of citizens protested during the first day of the new parliament's session. Now the parliamentary session will be considered legitimate if a majority of 76 deputies participate. The session is chaired by deputy Lado Kahadze, and the opposition refused to participate in the meeting, reports 'Glavcom.'

The opposition also refused to recognize the election results, which President Zourabichvili also did not recognize. International observers also expressed criticism regarding the elections in Georgia.
