More than 19,500 children have been unlawfully deported from Ukraine to Russia, many of whom ended up in horrific 're-education camps'.
In these camps, they are subjected to inhumane treatment, as soldiers try to convince the children that they are Russians.
Some estimates suggest that the number of abducted children may reach 35,000.
Russian kidnappers even tell their victims that their parents 'abandoned' them, according to Human Rights Watch.
In 2023, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and children’s rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova in connection with these kidnappings.
However, new data from British intelligence indicates that these children are being forced to wear Russian uniforms and go to the front lines when they turn 18.
Citing Ukrainian officials, the British Ministry of Defence (MOD) states that kidnapped children are being forced to take 'direct part' in the war against their fellow citizens once they reach adulthood.
The MOD report states: “Senior military leaders in Russia, at least in part, view kidnapped Ukrainian children as a potential source for both current and future personnel for the Russian army.”
It was also noted that any deaths of Ukrainian children on the battlefield will receive 'minimal, if any, objections' from the Russian public, many of whom are unaware of the abductions.
The Kremlin claims that the relocation of Ukrainian children is merely a 'humanitarian' step.
Meanwhile, witnesses from re-education camps recount horrific testimonies of the brutal conditions they endured.
Many of them say they were beaten and starved in the camps, forced to sing the Russian national anthem.
Communication in the Ukrainian language is also strictly prohibited.
The MOD report indicates that about 6,000 kidnapped children have been sent to these re-education camps across the Russian Federation.
From there, the children will be directed to military training camps when they reach adolescence.
“The abduction and forced conscription of Ukrainian children into the Russian army fits into the long-standing policy of the Russian leadership aimed at Russification in illegally occupied Ukrainian territory, intended to destroy Ukrainian culture, identity, and statehood,” states the report.
Maxim Maksimov, head of projects at the organization Bring Kids Back UA, told The Sun: “Children are always the most vulnerable victims of armed conflict.
“In the war of Russia, Ukrainian children have suffered not only trauma and forced displacement, but also systematic deportation, illegal adoption, and forced assimilation.
“If that’s not enough, Russia militarizes Ukrainian children, forcing them to serve in the Russian army and fight against their own country.
“For those of us who have watched Putin’s actions for over a decade, we have grown used to his evasion, distortion, and calculated indifference.
“But even we are shocked by the conscious cruelty and detachment from reality regarding the fate of our stolen children.
“For global peace, Russia must return Ukrainian children home – then we can talk about a reliable way forward.”
'I Was Abducted by a Russian Soldier'
ILLYA, 11 years old, was deported from Mariupol after a Russian shelling killed his mother and left him with horrific shrapnel wounds when he was nine.
His neighbors buried his mother's body in their yard before he was abducted by soldiers and taken for surgery to a camp in Donetsk.
The shrapnel was removed without anesthesia, and he was forced to write and speak in Russian, repeating 'Glory to Ukraine as part of Russia'.
He says the Russian troops tried to turn him into a 'propaganda tool', but he is not 'an easy person to deceive.'
Ilya's grandmother searched for her grandson after losing contact with her daughter in March 2022.
Only after they saw the young boy in a video from Russia did she realize he was alone and that her daughter had died.
His grandmother never lost hope and began the process of bringing her traumatized grandson home, where he belongs.
A few months later, Ilya returned home to Ukraine and underwent further surgery to remove more fragments from his leg, while 11 of them remained.
His grandmother Elena said: “He had school, he had a home, he had a mother, and he lost all of that – all his childhood.
“He became withdrawn, afraid of noise, terrified of sirens. He had no memories.
Now he dreams of becoming a doctor to help fighters on the front line as a combat medic.
Dariya Zaryvna, a member of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's team, previously told The Sun that Russia plans to use these brainwashed children as 'weapons' against Ukraine and Europe as a whole.
She noted: “We are working to keep this issue in the spotlight, and we believe it is extremely important for it to become part of these negotiations, as Ukrainian children are under Russian control.
“This is a threat to global security, to Ukraine's security.
“Currently, there are 1.6 million Ukrainian children in Russian-occupied territories.
“They have suffered indoctrination; they are being militarized.”
This comes at a time when Russian troops continue to attempt further offensives on Ukrainian territory and launch deadly strikes on large cities in the country.
However, Putin has sent tens of thousands of his soldiers to their deaths in his brutal war of conquest.
In June, Russian casualties in Ukraine exceeded the bloody milestone of one million - this includes those killed and wounded in battle.
Kremlin troops currently occupy about 20 percent of Ukraine's sovereign territory, devastating the country and its people in the process.
Thousands of Ukrainian civilians have reportedly died in brutal Russian strikes against civilian targets throughout the war.
