Glad to Create a Commission to Investigate War Crimes of the Russian Federation Against Journalists.
According to inkorr.com: A draft resolution has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which provides for the establishment of a Temporary Investigative Commission (TIC) to investigate war crimes committed by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation against journalists and media workers.
This initiative was put forward by the Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Humanitarian and Informational Policy, Yevgeniya Kravchuk. The TIC will become an important tool for the Parliament to monitor, coordinate, and develop legislative initiatives aimed at protecting journalists and freedom of speech in wartime conditions.
Main Tasks of the TIC
- Investigation Analysis: The commission intends to review the state of investigations into the crimes of the Russian Federation against media workers, including intentional killings, torture, abductions, and destruction of property, which is particularly relevant for temporarily occupied territories.
- Coordination: The TIC plans to cooperate with various institutions and public organizations for effective monitoring of the situation. The commission also intends to facilitate international investigations and establish cooperation with international organizations.
Thus, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada seeks to create a Temporary Investigative Commission to investigate war crimes committed against media representatives by Russia. This initiative aims to ensure the protection of journalists and freedom of speech in the context of military conflict, particularly in occupied territories. It is also noted that the TIC plans to actively cooperate with international partners to effectively address these issues.
