Ukraine Developing Advanced Tech Countermeasures Against Russian Drones, Says Defense Adviser.
Comments from Ukraine's Defense Ministry Adviser
According to TSN.ua: Serhiy Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukraine's Minister of Defense, has addressed public concerns about hostile drones flying over Kyiv, stating that Ukraine is preparing a response to these threats. He noted that while Russia has reduced the number of 'Shahed'-type attack drones, it has significantly enhanced their technological sophistication and accuracy. This evolution continues to alarm citizens as the drones remain a persistent danger to public safety.
Beskrestnov also emphasized that Russian forces are now connecting their drones to the Starlink satellite communication system, granting them extended capabilities for reconnaissance and precision strikes. He stressed that this issue is of critical importance and must be considered within the broader context of Ukraine's overall security situation. The use of commercial satellite tech for warfare presents a complex, modern challenge for defenders.
Countering the Threats
When questioned about potential reasons for failures in air defense, the defense adviser clarified:
"It's not always the fault of our air defense colleagues at this stage." – Serhiy Beskrestnov
He further assured that Ukraine intends to counter these threats with unconventional and technologically advanced methods.
"We will respond in an equally unconventional and technological manner. We have full authority from the Minister of Defense to do so," added Beskrestnov.
Consequently, facing these new challenges, Ukraine must adapt its strategies to counter modern Russian threats. The increasing technological capability of Russian drones, coupled with their integration with satellite systems, requires Ukraine not only to improve existing air defense assets but also to develop novel approaches within its military strategy. This underscores the vital importance of technological advancement and innovation in the defense sector, which may prove decisive for the nation's security.
