Ukrainian Flamingo missile reaches a range of 3000 km: what is known about the new weapon.
According to ТСН: Fire Point has presented a new cruise missile 'Flamingo', capable of hitting strategic targets deep within enemy territory.
Technologies and Characteristics
Journalists from The Wall Street Journal visited a secret factory where the assembly of this weapon takes place, as reported by UNIAN. Each missile can be launched a maximum of two days after production is completed.
This project provides a range that can compete with Russian 'Kalibr' and X-101 missiles, as well as surpasses Western analogs already in use in Ukraine.
Experts note that 'Flamingo' has great potential for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, although its maximum range has not yet been confirmed in combat conditions.
Production Capacities
While the company does not disclose exact production volumes, it plans to increase the output to seven 'Flamingo' missiles per day. Each specimen is manufactured to order for the Ukrainian army. As stated by the company’s technical director Iryna Terekh, the missile launch occurs within two days after production is completed.
A New Era in Defense
In August 2025, images of the new Ukrainian cruise missile FP-5 'Flamingo' were presented for the first time. These missiles can fly only 50 meters above the ground, have a flight range of over 3000 km, and significant striking power due to a warhead weight of 1150 kg.
Thus, 'Flamingo' has become the first Ukrainian development in the class of 'heavy' missile systems. All previous Ukrainian solutions, including mini cruise missiles and long-range drones, were significantly lighter in weight and payload capacity.
This new development underscores Ukraine's progress in creating modern defense technology, which will undoubtedly strengthen its position on the battlefield. The role of such projects in ensuring the country's independence and security on the international stage is also crucial.
