Previously driven by mother, now driven by wife: expert reveals the secret to the longevity of married men.

Married men live longer, thanks to the role of their wives in the family
According to endocrinologist Natalia Bezmen, married men in Ukraine have almost the same long life expectancy compared to singles. The reason for this is the role of the wife as the 'health manager' in the family.
The expert noted that usually women take care of their husbands' health, convincing them to visit doctors and follow treatment. The wife acts as the 'health manager', changing the husband's status.
The wife usually takes on this role of health manager. What changes in a man's life when he gets married? Previously, his mother would take him to the clinic, now it’s his wife. And if there is no wife, no one will take him to the doctor,
Bezmen emphasized that in Ukrainian families there is a clear division of responsibilities, where the wife solves one set of problems and the husband another. Caring for health traditionally falls within the realm of women's duties.
The endocrinologist confirms her viewpoint based on her own experience: women often accompany their husbands to the doctor and provide support regarding treatment. Men are not as familiar with all these procedures.
Moreover, Bezmen noted that single people in general live shorter lives. Even having pets can affect longevity. This depends on endorphins, cortisol levels, and the responsibility for one’s life.
However, the expert happily points out positive changes among the younger generation of Ukrainian men, who are more interested in their health. They visit doctors more often and have a conscious approach to their wellbeing.
Additionally, Bezmen points out that women tend to pay more attention to their appearance and health compared to men, who do not pay much attention to this.
Previously, an assessment was made by a demographer regarding the ratio of men and women in Ukraine after the war.
