Pension provision expert Serhiy Korobkin spoke about how pensions are assigned under lists No. 1 and No. 2 for workers in heavy and hazardous industries. He noted that there are many professions that grant the right to early retirement.

"Depending on the type of activity, the retirement age can be reduced by 5-10 years, and in some cases even more," noted Korobkin.

Under list No. 1, pensions are assigned to workers at 50 years of age. Men need to have 25 years of total service, of which 10 years are preferential. Women need 20 years of total service, of which 7.5 years are preferential.

Under list No. 2, pensions are assigned at 55 years of age. Men need 30 years of total service and 12.5 years under list No. 2. Women need 25 years of total service, of which 10 years are on preferential terms.

"If the preferential service period is less than indicated but is at least half of the required amount, the retirement age can still be reduced by a few years," explained the expert.

Korobkin emphasized the importance of workplace certification for receiving preferential service after 1992: "Preferential service is counted only if the enterprise conducted workplace certification every 5 years. If certification was not conducted, the person loses the right to a preferential pension."

For metallurgists and miners, retirement is provided regardless of age with 25 years of service under list No. 1. There are also separate benefits for underground workers.

Regarding the calculation of pensions, Korobkin noted: "For each full year of work under list No. 1, one year is added to the service period." For miners with sufficient underground service, the pension can amount to 80% of the salary.
