According to a survey by The New York Times and Siena College, former U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have roughly the same national rating just over eight weeks before the presidential election day.

The poll showed that Harris and Trump ratings have hardly changed compared to the previous summer poll. In this poll, 48% of respondents support Harris, while 47% support Trump.

When analyzing the so-called key states, the difference between the two candidates is minimal and falls within the margin of error.

Harris holds an advantage in Wisconsin (50% against 47% for Trump), Michigan (49% against 47%), and Pennsylvania (49% against 48%). But she has equal support with Trump in Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, and Arizona, where both candidates received 48% of the vote.

According to the NYT, Harris faces the challenge of maintaining voter support after a sharp rise in her rating following the announcement of her candidacy.

She managed to improve her positions among such voter groups as women, youth, and Latino voters, but has not yet secured sufficient support.

Additionally, 28% of surveyed American voters believe they need to learn more about Kamala Harris, compared to 9% regarding Trump. Only 25% believe that Harris can bring real change, compared to 53% for Biden.
