Revenge of Russian Pop. The Language Ombudsman named the regions from which the most complaints come.
According to official data, since the beginning of the invasion, residents of six regions of Ukraine have most often complained about the use of Russian music in public places. In particular, the most complaints came from Kyiv, Odesa region, Kharkiv region, Transcarpathian region, Chernihiv region, and Kirovohrad region.
According to data for 2024, this phenomenon continued, and the most complaints about Russian-language content were received from residents of Kyiv, Odesa region, Mykolaiv region, and Transcarpathian region.
In the first months of January 2025, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language received five complaints concerning the enforcement of Russian-language content in public places.
It is worth noting that the head of the World Coordinating Educational Council of the World Congress of Ukrainians, Lyubov Lyubchik, stated that Ukrainian children do not have the opportunity to learn the Ukrainian language in European schools and often choose to learn Russian, which they explain by convenience and simplification of tasks.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that a petition to block Russian-language music on streaming platforms in Ukraine received the required number of votes in three days. This petition appeared on the Cabinet of Ministers' website on February 17.
