Raucous Celebration

After the victory, Team Europe celebrated late into the night. According to The U.S. Sun, their bar bill was an impressive $310,000 (£230,000), which included 120 bottles of Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial champagne.

Before the celebration, the team communicated with Trump. McIlroy, holding the phone in selfie mode, began to sing:

“Are you watching Donald Trump?”
, to which Trump, without taking offense, shared the video on his Truth Social account, adding:
“Yes, I’m watching, congratulations!”

Trump's Visit and Security Measures

Team captain Donald later spoke about the song idea. He noted:

“Rory received a message from the President when we were in the locker room. He read it to us and said: ‘Let’s make a video with funny singing and send it back.’ It was just a bit of a joke.”

Trump visited the Ryder Cup on Friday along with his granddaughter Kai, arriving in his Marina One helicopter from the White House. During the visit, he interacted with some players and encouraged the crowd.

The President's arrival required increased security measures at Bethpage Black, causing long lines at the entrances. Because of this, many fans missed the beginning of the competition on Friday. Former Secret Service agent Donald Lane estimated that the security upgrades cost around 10 million dollars.

Lane noted:

“In some places, there will be metal detectors where people will have to put their belongings in bins and pass through x-ray machines.”

This victory of Team Europe at the Ryder Cup has become an important event not only in the sports world but also in the context of international relations due to the participation of Donald Trump, which attracted the attention of media and fans. The heightened security measures also highlighted the impact of this event, demonstrating how significant sporting competitions can interact with the political sphere.
