Widespread Assault Across Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: In a large-scale combined assault on the night of January 20, Russian forces launched drones and missiles against seven regions of Ukraine, including the capital, Kyiv. The attack caused significant damage to infrastructure and civilian casualties. This relentless targeting of energy systems during winter creates a severe humanitarian crisis for the population. A substantial part of Kyiv was once again left without heating as a direct result of the aggressor's destructive actions.

The strikes left 5,635 apartment buildings in Kyiv without heat. Alarmingly, 80% of the buildings that had just been repaired following the January 9 attack were again deprived of heating. The human cost of the bombardment included a 59-year-old woman wounded and a 50-year-old man killed in the Bucha district.

Regional Impacts of the Offensive

The assault extended beyond Kyiv, also striking the Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Rivne, Odesa, Cherkasy, and Poltava regions. In Dnipro, an industrial facility was damaged, resulting in a fire. Ukrainian defenses managed to destroy 4 missiles and 1 drone in the Cherkasy region. In the Rivne region, over 10,000 subscribers lost power, though service was restored for all by 10:21 AM. A Russian strike in the Poltava region hit an industrial object, underscoring the escalating situation there.

This attack once again underscores the grave threat facing Ukraine and the critical importance of protecting essential infrastructure.

The scale of these attacks confirms that Russian forces continue to employ tactics of mass bombardment, aiming to destabilize the situation across Ukraine. Restoring damaged infrastructure and ensuring heating during the winter months have become increasingly urgent tasks for Ukrainian authorities. These events highlight the necessity of strengthening air defense systems and improving readiness for potential new strikes amid the ongoing conflict.
