Strike on Kharkiv

According to UATV: On February 26, Russian forces launched a two-hour assault on four districts of Kharkiv, deploying 18 attack drones and two 'Iskander-M' missiles. This attack is part of a wider pattern of strikes on Ukrainian cities that has intensified in recent months. Preliminary reports indicate the use of an additional 20 'Geran-2' drones and three aerial bombs.

The attack resulted in 16 civilian casualties, including two children. Three private houses were destroyed, and multi-story residential buildings sustained significant damage, with 67 apartment blocks affected and over 600 windows blown out.

Recovery and Aftermath

Emergency crews are currently working to restore power lines and a gas pipeline damaged in the strike. Residents described the devastating impact. One stated:

“The house is beyond repair, all the walls are broken down, demolished, there are no ceilings left.”
Another resident recounted:
“We were relatively lucky—our windows were blown out, but on the other side of the building, a projectile entered an apartment on the fifth floor.”

This latest attack underscores the severe and ongoing toll the conflict is taking on civilians in the region. The relentless nature of the war in Ukraine continues to inflict profound physical destruction and psychological trauma on the population. Rebuilding the damaged infrastructure and housing in affected areas will require substantial efforts from both the state and international organizations.
