Kharkiv Attack: Casualties and Aftermath
According to TSN.ua: In the early hours of March 7, 2023, Russian forces launched a missile and drone assault on the city of Kharkiv. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people, two of whom were children. One of the missiles struck a residential apartment building in the city's Kyivskyi district, causing severe destruction.
Rescuers recovered 10 bodies from the rubble of the five-story building, including a 7-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl.
"The bodies and body fragments found under the debris indicate that, at this moment, 11 people have died. A more precise number will be known after examinations are conducted," said Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.Oleg Synehubov, head of the regional military administration, added,
"Body remains have been found, so the final death toll will be determined after the relevant forensic examinations."This strike is part of a pattern of attacks on Ukrainian cities that has intensified since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Scale of the Destruction
The attack damaged approximately 20 buildings, multiple vehicles, and an educational institution, underscoring the widespread devastation caused by the incident.
This assault highlights the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where strikes on civilian infrastructure have become tragically commonplace, causing deep distress among the population. Authorities continue to work on clearing the debris and providing aid to the victims.
