Drone Strikes by Russia Kill Two in Kharkiv Region, Children Among Injured.
Strikes Target Kharkiv Region
According to UATV: On March 7, the Russian military carried out a series of attacks on populated areas in the Chuhuiv district of the Kharkiv region. These strikes resulted in the deaths of two individuals, aged 81 and 60, and left five others wounded. The assaults occurred at various times, including one in Bilyi Kolodiaz around 12:30 p.m. The ongoing conflict has seen a pattern of attacks on civilian areas, causing significant casualties.
Those injured in the shelling were five civilians, including:
- A 71-year-old woman,
- A 48-year-old man, injured during an attack in the village of Reznykove,
- A 55-year-old man,
- A 77-year-old woman,
- An 8-year-old girl, who were all wounded during an attack on the city of Chuhuiv around 4:30 p.m.
Assault on Zaporizhzhia
A separate drone attack also struck Zaporizhzhia. There, a Geran-2 type drone detonated near apartment buildings. The explosion injured a three-month-old infant, who sustained injuries of moderate severity. The blast wave shattered windows in seven residential buildings, underscoring the destructive force of these attacks on urban centers.
These incidents highlight the continued escalation of the war in Ukraine, particularly the targeting of civilian infrastructure which inflicts harm on non-combatants. The assaults on the Kharkiv region and Zaporizhzhia demonstrate a direct threat to civilian life and safety, as well as the damaging impact on social infrastructure in the affected areas.
