Ukrainian Air Defenses Intercept Two Russian 'Kinzhal' Missiles Targeting Lviv.
Lviv Comes Under Attack
According to UATV: On February 11th, at approximately 3:00 PM, Russian forces launched two 'Kinzhal' hypersonic missiles at the city of Lviv. Mayor Andriy Sadoviy confirmed the assault. According to official reports, both incoming missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed by Ukrainian air defense units. Consequently, there were no casualties or damage reported within the city.
Part of a Larger Assault
This strike on Lviv was one component of a much broader Russian offensive operation that same day. In total, Russia launched 129 attack drones against various targets across Ukraine. The drone models used in this mass attack included:
- 'Shahed'
- 'Gerbera'
- 'Italmas'
As of now, the full consequences of these widespread drone attacks have not been publicly disclosed. The 'Kinzhal' missile is one of Russia's most advanced weapons, making its successful interception a significant tactical achievement for Ukraine's air defenses.
This incident underscores the persistent threat Russian forces pose to Ukrainian population centers, even as air defense systems demonstrate increasing effectiveness. The combined use of sophisticated missiles and swarms of drones highlights an intensification of hostilities. Such sustained aerial bombardments continue to shape the security landscape and military strategies on both sides of the ongoing conflict.
