Severe weather hits Lviv hard

According to Novyny.live: Municipal crews in Lviv are working to clear the damage left by a powerful storm that struck the city on June 29. Heavy rain, strong gusts of wind, and thunderstorms caused 30 trees and 3 large branches to fall. The hardest-hit area was the Halytskyi district, where 9 trees came down, followed by the Shevchenkivskyi district, which saw 7 trees toppled.

The storm damaged a district administration building and 7 cars. A 6-year-old girl was hospitalized after being struck by lightning. Fortunately, her condition is stable, and there are no visible marks from the strike.

City crews on the ground

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi praised the efforts of municipal workers, thanking them for working around the clock to address the storm's aftermath. Additionally, on June 30, the city plans to introduce hourly power outage schedules from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

This extreme weather event highlights the growing vulnerability of urban infrastructure to increasingly frequent severe storms. Local authorities are prioritizing cleanup and public safety as they work to respond swiftly to such challenges. The planned power cuts also underscore the need for careful resource management during emergencies.
