Russia, Iran, and China can use artificial intelligence to influence the presidential elections in the USA, according to data from the Department of Homeland Security
According to the US threat assessment, Russia, Iran, and China pose a growing threat to the presidential elections in the USA, where they attempt to influence the outcomes using artificial intelligence. This conclusion was drawn by the Department of Homeland Security from a report published by Reuters.
Russian 'influence agents' intensified the information campaign, particularly spreading stories about migrants entering the USA, aiming to create tension and hostility. They also used generative artificial intelligence to create fake American media.
Iranian entities intensified their efforts to exert foreign influence. They even posed as activists online to amplify protests over the Gaza conflict.
The Department of Homeland Security report also suggests that Russia, Iran, and China will employ various methods to find opportunities to undermine confidence in the democratic institutions of the USA and the social cohesion of the country.
The report indicates that domestic extremists also pose a serious threat to the elections. Presidential candidate Donald Trump has already been the target of two possible assassination attempts.
The report claims that domestic extremists may attempt violent actions to instill fear among voters, candidates, and election commission workers and disrupt the electoral process.
Particularly dangerous are lone offenders or small cells motivated by racial, religious, or anti-government views.
