Russia has moved over 5000 troops from the fronts in Ukraine to the Kursk region - ISW.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, the Russian command has moved over 5000 soldiers to the front in the Kursk region in Ukraine. This information is confirmed by The Wall Street Journal, which cites a source familiar with the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region. According to this report, the Russians relocated several understrength brigades from other parts of Ukraine to the Kursk region between August 6 and 13.
It is also noted that Russian forces changed the location of an understrength brigade from the Donetsk region. This might relate to the "Fifteenth" - one of the irregular units of the "DNR", which the Institute observed along with other Russian units from the Donetsk region around August 8.
According to the information, on August 15, units of the 200th Motor Rifle Brigade also arrived in the Kursk region. Recently, this brigade participated in battles in the area of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.
Additionally, it is reported that Russian forces moved up to 11 battalions to the front in the Kursk region, which is confirmed by WSJ information.
On August 17, the "Tiger" battalion of the 155th Marine Brigade also announced that its units are being transferred to the Kursk region. Previously, this battalion operated near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region.
In summary, experts believe that Russia has moved additional forces to the Kursk region during the first week of the operation, totaling about 5000 people.
