Russian Forces Push into Sumy Region, Aiming to Establish a 'Buffer Zone'.
Escalation on the Border
According to TSN.ua: Russian military forces are advancing into Ukrainian territory from the north, with the stated objective of creating a so-called 'buffer zone' within the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. This offensive push represents a new phase in the conflict, directly challenging Ukraine's sovereign borders. Notably, troops have penetrated the village of Hrabovske, which lies a mere 200 meters from the Ukrainian state border. Russian plans reportedly call for a zone at least five kilometers deep.
The situation along the border in Sumy Oblast has intensified following the incursion into Hrabovske. The depth of the Russian advance into the village has not exceeded one kilometer so far. According to military expert Viktor Tregubov, this action demonstrates Russia's intent to effectively push Ukraine's border inward, seizing its sovereign territory.

Authorities stress the critical need to keep local populations informed of potential threats to minimize risks to life and safety for residents in the region.
