Russia is recruiting Afghan soldiers against Ukraine: intelligence confirmed.
According to inkorr.com: Russia is actively recruiting former military personnel from Afghanistan, including special forces and intelligence operatives, to participate in the war against Ukraine. This information was confirmed by Oleg Aleksandrov, a representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service.
“Former Afghan military personnel, special forces, and intelligence operatives are being recruited for the war against Ukraine. The recruitment is facilitated by the announced decision in March 2025 by the USA to terminate the temporary protection program for Afghan citizens and begin the deportation of Afghan refugees from Iran.”
Former Afghan soldiers are offered a salary ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 per month, as well as the opportunity to obtain Russian citizenship or a temporary residence permit. The total number of Afghan military personnel who were trained by instructors from the USA, the United Kingdom, and other NATO countries is about 20,000-25,000.
Recruitment in other countries
Russian special services are also actively searching for mercenaries for the war in Iran, Iraq, and other regions of Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Caribbean. They are trying to convince foreigners who are already participating in the war on the side of Russia to return to their homeland through the consular institutions of their countries.
About 1,400 citizens of Iraq are fighting in the ranks of the Russian army, as well as other foreign mercenaries who have been recruited from various corners of the world.
Information about the recruitment of former Afghan military personnel for participation in the conflict in Ukraine indicates Russia's active search for new personnel for its military tasks. These events highlight the importance of international cooperation in combating recruitment and military threats arising from Russia. Such actions can have serious consequences for the security of various countries, not just Ukraine.
