Electricity and Water Supply Disruptions in Crimea

According to Espreso.tv: Crimea is facing ongoing electricity and water supply disruptions for a second day, following attacks on its energy infrastructure. As a result, at least 7 out of 11 city districts and 12 out of 14 regions on the peninsula remain without power. Only the city of Kerch has managed to restore its electricity supply.

Affected Communities

The following towns and districts have been impacted by the blackouts:

  • Simferopol
  • Dzhankoi
  • Saky
  • Alushta
  • Armiansk
  • Krasnoperekopsk
  • Bakhchysarai District

In addition, water supply interruptions are reported in Yevpatoria, Kerch, Saky, and Alushta. The power outage in Yevpatoria has halted tram services, while public transport in Sevastopol is experiencing delays.

On the night of July 5, defense forces struck two electrical substations in Crimea, damaging facilities in the western part of the peninsula. In response, mobile operators have switched their networks to emergency roaming mode. The situation remains critical, with residents awaiting the restoration of normal electricity and water services.

It is important to recognize that such strikes can have severe consequences for civilians, who already face difficulties in accessing basic utilities.

Infrastructure restoration could take an extended period, creating additional hardships for the region's population. This crisis also highlights the vulnerability of Crimea's energy system amid the ongoing conflict.
