Surge in Drone Manufacturing

According to TSN.ua: Russia is dramatically ramping up its production of unmanned aerial vehicles, specifically the 'Shahed' model, with a daily output now exceeding 400 units. The strategic goal is to force Ukraine into a state of perpetual air raid alert. According to military plans, Russian forces intend to launch up to 1,000 of these drones in a single coordinated attack wave. However, a current operational bottleneck is the insufficient number of launch platforms available to execute such large-scale assaults. This relentless drone campaign represents a key facet of Russia's evolving war strategy.

Chinese Backing and Enhanced Technology

China is providing critical technical support to Russia by supplying necessary equipment and technology, which could significantly boost the effectiveness of Russian strikes. In a notable upgrade, the Russian military has equipped a jet-powered variant of the 'Shahed', known as the 'Geran-4', with an air-to-air missile system.

Security expert Dmytro Zhmaylo observed that

"the enemy clearly wants to regularly launch about 1,000 'Shaheds' in one air attack"
but added that Russia
"lacks enough stationary launch sites"
. He further emphasized that
"the enemy will try to achieve a round-the-clock air raid alert regime without stopping its attacks"
.

Serhiy 'Flash' noted that

"the use of Starlink by Russian military drones creates a critical threat to the Ukrainian rear"
. These factors underscore the severity of Russia's intentions regarding its aerial assault campaign against Ukraine.

The combined increase in 'Shahed' drone production and support from China points to an intensification of Russia's military operations. The objective of imposing non-stop air raid alerts reveals a strategic focus on technological warfare and mass attacks. While implementation may be hampered by logistical constraints like launch platform shortages, the influx of new technologies will likely enable Russia to continue expanding its capabilities in this domain.
