Over 400 Drones and 68 Rockets Launched by Russia, with Kyiv Region’s Energy Grid as the Primary Target.
Attack on Ukraine on March 14
According to Novyny.live: On March 14, Russian forces unleashed more than 400 drones and 68 rockets against Ukraine, including 13 ballistic missiles. The main focus of the assault was the energy infrastructure in the Kyiv region. At least four people lost their lives, and numerous others were reported wounded as a result of these strikes.
The bombardment took place overnight into March 14. In the Kyiv region, two people were killed and four more sustained injuries. Ukraine’s air defense systems managed to intercept 58 drones and rockets, but a significant number of enemy projectiles still hit their intended targets.
Response and Aftermath
In Kyiv, emergency power outages were implemented due to the heightened threat, and electric public transport was temporarily halted. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that all necessary emergency services were on the ground. He also noted that while Russia’s primary goal was to cripple the energy sector of the Kyiv region, residential buildings, schools, and civilian enterprises also suffered hits and damage.
Zelenskyy stressed that each such night of Russian strikes serves as a reminder to all of Ukraine’s partners that air defense systems and their missiles are a daily necessity.
This intense barrage underscores an escalation in Russian military operations and highlights the critical need for continued international support for Ukraine, particularly in supplying advanced air defense systems. The ongoing attacks on civilian infrastructure raise serious concerns about public safety and infrastructure stability, which could have long-term repercussions for the country.
