Russia attacked Ukraine with 280 missiles and drones: how many were shot down by air defense forces.
On the night of August 19, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine, resulting in the country being targeted by 280 aerial assault means. This was reported by the press service of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Missiles and drones launched at Ukraine
According to the Air Forces, the enemy used 270 strike drones of the Shahed type and various models of imitation drones. The missiles and drones were launched from the territories of Kursk, Voronezh, Rostov regions, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and the temporarily occupied Crimea. A total of five ballistic 'Iskander-M' missiles and five Kh-101 cruise missiles from strategic aviation over the Caspian Sea were fired.
To repel the massive attack, aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces were engaged. From the beginning of the attack until the morning, 236 enemy targets were destroyed or neutralized, including 230 drones and some missiles.
The report of the Air Forces also mentions that due to the attack by Russia, there were problems with electricity supply in Poltava region. In addition, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about the changes in Russia's tactics in conducting attacks with 'Shaheds' and how this complicates the processes of interception.
Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Russia has increased its aggression and is using various innovations in its tactics aimed at inflicting as much damage as possible on the neighboring country.
