The Ukrainian Navy reported that the Russian Su-30SM fighter went off the radar during flight southeast of Zmiinyi Island. The aircraft lost contact, and official representatives of the Russian side launched a search and rescue operation. Wreckage of the aircraft was found on the sea surface, but the pilots have not yet been located.
According to preliminary data, the aircraft may have encountered an accident for unknown reasons. The information about the loss of contact with the Russian fighter was obtained by the Ukrainian Navy's intelligence and disseminated in the media. The military also reminded about other cases of increased activity of the Russian army in the south, particularly the rise in the number of attacks and strikes by Ukrainian drones on targets in southern Russia.
