Novovolynsk Left Without Power and Water After Second Russian Strike on Energy Facility.
Energy Facility Near Novovolynsk Hit Again
According to TSN.ua: For the second time this month, a Russian attack has struck a critical energy facility near the city of Novovolynsk, cutting off electricity and water supplies. Mayor Borys Karpus confirmed the overnight strike on the city's energy infrastructure. These attacks are part of a wider Russian campaign targeting Ukraine's power grid, which has intensified during the winter months.
This latest incident follows a previous attack by a Russian drone on February 6, which also caused significant disruptions to the city's utilities. The targeted facility is considered critical infrastructure. Currently, water supply systems are reliant on the electrical grid, while water treatment plants and some boiler houses are operating on backup generators. There are no reports of casualties from this attack.
Impact on Civilian Life
The strike underscores the severe consequences for civilians from Russia's sustained assault on Ukraine's energy systems. The loss of running water and electricity significantly degrades living conditions for Novovolynsk's residents, a situation made more dangerous by winter weather and increased energy needs.
Local authorities continue to implement measures to maintain essential services, but the situation remains challenging for the city's population.
