Russia prepares an offensive on Sloviansk through Lyman: what is happening in the direction.

According to ТСН: Active hostilities continue in the Lyman direction, as Russian forces consider Lyman a priority target for the offensive on Sloviansk, while attention to Siversk is decreasing.

According to geolocation data, Ukrainian forces have managed to regain lost positions to the northwest of Lyman, particularly in the southern part of the village of Karpivka. However, the enemy has also achieved partial success in the northern part of this settlement.

Dynamics of the situation

Analysts note that the situation remains tense, and combat clashes occur almost without pauses.

Occupiers continue pressure in the area of the Serebryansky forestry and attempt to implement bypass tactics. Spokesman for the 11th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Dmytro Zaporizhets, emphasized that Russian units are trying to bypass Yampil from the north and south.

He warned that such maneuvers could complicate the situation in the region. Additional complexity is added by poor weather conditions.

Water obstacles, particularly the Siverskyi Donets River, also remain challenging for the Russian army, complicating logistics and support for the occupiers' units in the areas of Serebryanka and Dronivka.

The spokesperson for the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that Lyman is strategically important for Russian troops in the context of offensive actions against Sloviansk, as control of this direction allows the enemy to exert additional pressure on Ukrainian defenses.

In the Siversk direction, occupiers also report local successes; video from December 13 confirms their advancement in the central part of Sviatoprokrovsk to the south of Siversk.

It is worth noting that on December 12, DeepState analysts reported that the Ukrainian defense forces liberated Kupyansk: the city came under full control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Following this, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recorded a video address from Kupyansk, highlighting the importance of this achievement for Ukraine.

Military actions in the Lyman direction can significantly impact the further development of the conflict, and control over key territories becomes particularly important in the context of ongoing fighting and the changing tactics of both sides.
