According to UATV: On the night of March 7th, Russian forces launched a massive combined assault on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, employing a wide array of aerial weaponry including cruise missiles and attack drones. This large-scale attack underscores the ongoing intensity of the conflict, now entering its third year.
According to official data, a total of 509 aerial attack weapons were deployed in the assault. The inventory included:
- 2 'Zircon' hypersonic missiles
- 13 ballistic missiles, including 'Iskander-M' and S-400 types
- 14 'Kalibr' cruise missiles
- 480 attack drones, approximately 290 of which were 'Shahed' models
By 09:00, Ukrainian air defense forces reported successfully intercepting or neutralizing 472 of these targets. This defensive action included 19 missiles and 453 drones. Despite these efforts, 9 missiles and 26 drones struck 22 different locations, highlighting the attack's extensive scope.
Primary Targets of the Assault
The Ukrainian Armed Forces identified Kyiv, Kharkiv, and the Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernivtsi regions as the primary targets. The Air Force confirmed that the attack resulted in civilian casualties, with deaths and injuries reported in the city of Kharkiv.
