According to UATV: On July 21, 2023, Russian forces launched a follow-up attack in the Dnipropetrovsk region, striking emergency personnel who were extinguishing a fire. The blaze had started after an earlier shelling, during which rescuers were carrying out their duties in the Nikopol district. As a result of this second assault, three local firefighters were wounded.

While working to manage the aftermath of the initial bombardment, the rescue team became the target of another strike. Specialists from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) provided first aid to the injured, and all three were subsequently hospitalized. This incident underscores the grave dangers rescue workers face while operating in active combat zones.
