The Russian ballet performed in Sweden, pretending to be Ukrainians.
The Ukrainian ballet troupe 'Ballet of Ukraine' performed the show 'The Nutcracker' in Sweden, but it turned out to have ties to Russia rather than Ukraine. This was reported by SVT.
According to research, the address in Kyiv listed on the 'Ballet of Ukraine' website does not belong to any ballet studio. However, the company Touring Actors, which organized the performances, is registered on a Russian server, and its owner is a citizen of the Russian Federation, registered as an entrepreneur in Moscow. The dancers working on the site are indeed engaged in Russian ballet.
The show 'The Nutcracker' was presented in eight cities in Sweden, and the money for six of them was paid to a Swiss company owned by a former Russian banker.
Moreover, the repertoire of 'Ballet of Ukraine' is very similar to that of the St. Petersburg ballet. Similarly, the press materials used by the troupe coincide with those of the Moscow ballet.
The website of 'Ballet of Ukraine' and the company Touring Actors has already been removed.
It should be noted that as early as 2022, the Kyiv National Opera warned about the tours of 'clones' under false pretenses.
In December 2024, several Swedish concert halls canceled performances by the Russian ballet theater 'Heritage', which also planned to show 'The Nutcracker' and 'Swan Lake' in Sweden.
