Russian Offensive on Zaporizhzhia Thwarted

According to Novyny.live: On March 7, Russian forces attempted to intensify their offensive push in the Zaporizhzhia region but were halted by Ukrainian defenders in coordination with Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR). According to an HUR statement, Ukrainian units took effective measures to contain the enemy's aggression on this front. The Zaporizhzhia region remains a critical southern axis where Ukraine has maintained a determined defense.

The 'Timur Special Unit' has been conducting defensive operations on the Zaporizhzhia front for three months. The HUR reported that during recent intense combat, over 300 Russian military personnel were killed and a further 39 were captured. The Main Intelligence Directorate stated:

"HUR units, in coordination with Ukraine's Defense Forces, stopped the enemy's advance on Zaporizhzhia within their operational sector."

In a separate assessment, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the Russian Federation is losing over 30,000 personnel per month in its war against Ukraine. These figures point to the severe attrition and operational challenges facing the Russian military.

Active Combat and Wider Impacts

Also on March 7, Ukrainian forces struck Donetsk Airport using ATACMS and SCALP missiles, demonstrating active combat on other fronts. Furthermore, a port facility on Russian territory was hit, damaging a ship that had been launching Kalibr cruise missiles at Ukrainian targets.

These recent events confirm that Ukrainian forces continue to actively counter Russian military aggression, demonstrating both defensive resilience and the capacity for precision strikes. The stalling of the Russian advance near Zaporizhzhia highlights the growing effectiveness of Ukrainian resistance. The significant number of Russian casualties and prisoners taken underscores the success of current defensive operations, while reports of high Russian losses indicate serious strategic problems for the invading force. Ukraine's readiness to conduct attacks across multiple fronts may prove a decisive factor in the conflict's trajectory.
