February 19, 2025 Attack on Odesa

According to Novyny.live: In the early hours of February 19, 2025, a Russian missile strike hit Odesa, severely damaging Children's Polyclinic No. 6 on Knyazya Yaroslav Mudroho Street and completely destroying Kindergarten No. 275. As of February 2026, the clinic remains closed to patients, and the kindergarten has been removed from the city's educational network. This attack is part of a broader pattern of strikes on civilian infrastructure in Ukrainian cities far from the front lines.

Children's Polyclinic No. 6, which prior to the attack was equipped with modern medical devices purchased in 2017 and had a facade renovated for 8.5 million hryvnias in 2022, is now non-functional. A training and resource center had opened within the clinic in December 2024, but its operations were halted by the strike. Authorities have announced three tenders for repair work, one valued at 79.9 million hryvnias, yet reconstruction has still not begun.

Impact of the Strike on the City

The assault also left more than 250,000 Odesa residents without heating. Four civilians, including one child, were wounded in the Russian attack. This situation underscores the severe consequences of military actions for civilian infrastructure and city inhabitants.

This incident is part of the ongoing conflict that continues to devastate Ukraine's social and medical infrastructure. The failure to restore critical facilities like children's clinics and kindergartens endangers access to healthcare and education for countless children. Such attacks on civilian targets create profound humanitarian crises and highlight the urgent need for sustained international support for Ukraine's recovery.
