Police Brutality in Georgia: Journalist Hospitalized with Facial Bone Fractures.
A journalist from the 'Formula' channel, Guram Rogava, sustained injuries to his facial bones and the arch of the seventh cervical vertebra, his doctors report.
The journalist's condition is assessed as satisfactory, and currently, surgical intervention is not required.
The attack on Rogava occurred during the dispersal of a rally in Tbilisi, during which around 20 journalists and an unknown number of demonstrators were injured.
The rally took place after the Prime Minister's announcement to halt integration into the European Union until 2028. Protesters were dispersed with water cannons and pepper spray.
Protests are escalating, and President Salome Zourabichvili issued a statement to special forces condemning their violence.
Today, the police cleared the rally with harsh detentions and violent actions.
43 people were detained, among the injured are 32 police officers. The number of injured among the protesters is unknown.
Higher educational institutions have suspended operations in protest.
The elections in Georgia sparked controversy, with the opposition refusing to recognize the results. The President also called for protests, and international observers gave a negative assessment of the elections.
The Georgian Ambassador to Bulgaria announced his resignation due to the disruption of euro-integration.
