Luxury on Wheels: Three Regions Lead in Payment of Transport Tax for Elite Cars.
According to the State Tax Service, last year, owners of premium cars paid over 220 million UAH in transport tax. Approximately one third of this amount was paid by car owners from Kyiv.
In 2024, local budgets received 37% more funds compared to 2023, amounting to 59 million UAH. The number of car owners who paid the tax also increased. In 2023, there were 7,393 such individuals, while in 2024, the number rose to 10,217.
The majority of taxpayers are individuals who paid 136.2 million UAH. There were also 3,000 legal entities that paid 83.5 million UAH.
In addition to Kyiv, the leaders in tax payments were the following regions:
Dnipropetrovsk - 21.2 million UAH,
Odesa - 18.8 million UAH,
Kyiv region - 17.2 million UAH.
The tax service reminds that the transport tax is paid by owners of passenger cars that are not older than five years. The total value of such cars must exceed 375 minimum wages established at the beginning of the tax year.
The transport tax rate is 25 thousand UAH for each car.
The Ministry of Economy determines the list of passenger cars subject to this tax and publishes it on its website (www.me.gov.ua) by February 1 of the tax year.
In 2024, the following brands were included in the list of cars subject to tax: Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, GMC Hummer, Jaguar, Lamborghini, LandRover, Lexus, McLaren, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Tesla, Toyota. 488 models were taxed.
In 2025, 352 brands of cars will also be subject to tax.
Legal entities will receive notifications about the accrued tax amount in their electronic cabinet. Tax decisions for individuals will be sent by mail to their tax address. Those who applied for correspondence with the STS electronically will receive notifications in their electronic cabinet.
