Rubio warned Russia about new sanctions: when the US may impose restrictions.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Russia about the possible consequences if a peace agreement is not reached in Ukraine. He emphasized that President Donald Trump does not plan to change his stance on sanctions.
The problem is this: as soon as you impose additional sanctions, strong additional sanctions, conversations stop. And then the war simply continues.
When asked about the possibility of lifting sanctions after the summit with Vladimir Putin, Rubio stated that he does not consider it likely. He noted that Russia is facing the consequences of economic pressure.
Regarding the conclusion of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, Rubio remarked that while there is some progress, serious disagreements remain, so additional work is still needed to achieve peace.
In conclusion, the US Secretary of State emphasized the importance of reaching a peace agreement with Russia for stability in the region and support for Ukraine's sovereignty, as well as stressed that no restrictions against the Russian Federation will be lifted until a peace agreement is in place.
