NATO Chief in Kyiv: Alliance Reports 30,000 Russian Casualties Per Month.
Press Conference in Kyiv
According to Espreso.tv: A press conference took place in Kyiv on June 3, where NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The discussions centered on the current battlefield situation, Russian losses, support for Ukraine, and the push for peace negotiations.
During the event, Rutte stated that Russian military casualties are roughly 30,000 individuals each month.
“Tens of thousands of Russian casualties are not an abstraction. You will likely be one of that number,” he emphasized. The NATO leader also highlighted the dire conditions faced by Ukrainian troops, remarking: 'They have put you in a rodeo. You are given ammunition, unsuitable equipment, and sent out with a high probability of being wounded or killed.'
Support for Ukraine
Rutte stressed the necessity of ongoing assistance for Ukraine, confirming NATO’s commitment to future support:
“We see how Ukraine strives for peace. That is why we are ready to declare that our support for Ukraine will continue.”
It is worth noting that NATO now comprises 32 member nations. Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chair of the NATO Military Committee, also attended the meeting. Importantly, Russia’s war in Ukraine began a decade ago, and the situation remains critical.
The meeting between Rutte and Zelenskyy underscores NATO’s sustained backing of Ukraine amid an active armed conflict. The emphasis on continued military and humanitarian aid, along with the Alliance’s readiness to provide this support moving forward, reflects the international community’s steadfast stance on the regional crisis. At the same time, reports of heavy Russian troop losses could influence strategic decisions in both Kyiv and Moscow as the conflict evolves.
