Fraudster deceived the mother of a deceased soldier for almost 1 million UAH.

The Prosecutor's Office of Vinnytsia region uncovered a fraud scheme, according to which a resident of Vinnytsia along with accomplices illegally seized over one million hryvnias allocated for a state payment to the mother of a deceased soldier. The man used the scheme to buy expensive mobile phones and launder the money, but was detained and is currently in custody.

The accused made a number of payments from the victim's card, spending approximately 970 thousand UAH to purchase 18 high-value mobile phones. Four of them were successfully sold by the accused, thus legalizing the funds obtained through deception.

Member of Parliament Dmytro Lubinets has already warned the public about similar fraudulent schemes used by criminals to deceive military veterans. The situation once again highlights the importance of combating financial fraudsters who commit crimes for personal gain at the expense of others.
