The 'Ukrzaliznytsia' website is down: how to buy tickets and what bonuses the company promises.


After the cyberattack that occurred on March 23, the online services of 'Ukrzaliznytsia' are still unavailable. This was reported by the company itself. It was noted that although the cyberattack was large-scale, train traffic was not affected and continues on the regular schedule.
What is known about the cyberattack on 'Ukrzaliznytsia'
On the morning of March 23, 'Ukrzaliznytsia' suffered a technical failure, causing issues with online ticket sales, service orders, and information inquiries.
The company stated that the cyberattack was large-scale, but it did not impact train traffic. Online ticket sales have become unavailable.
Ukrzaliznytsia is actively working on restoring its online services. Despite the issues, train traffic remains stable, and all operations are conducted in a backup format.
'We continue to restore online services after the cyberattack. We expect to return everything to normal soon,' the company stated.
Where to buy train tickets?
Currently, online ticket sales are not available, but passengers can purchase them at ticket offices at train stations. The hours of operation of the ticket offices have been extended, and the number of staff has increased for greater convenience to customers. 'Station angels' are also available at train stations to assist passengers if necessary.
'The ticket offices and railway workers are operating in an enhanced mode. Tickets for the nearest dates - March 26 and 27 - are being sold at the ticket offices. We recommend that passengers avoid peak times and try to buy tickets from 09:00 to 11:00 and from 14:30 to 16:30,' said Ukrzaliznytsia.
It was also reported that additional ticket offices have already been opened in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, and Lviv. They operate without breaks and lunch.
When will 'Ukrzaliznytsia' resume operations?
Specialists from 'Ukrzaliznytsia' are working together with the Cyber Department of the Security Service of Ukraine and other experts to restore the system as quickly as possible. Before the full launch of online services, a thorough check of backups and fixes to vulnerabilities are being conducted.
'IT specialists of Ukrzaliznytsia, the Cyber Department of the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Cyber Protection Center, the Government Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-UA) under the State Special Communication Service, the IT team of Kyivstar, and all involved specialists are working around the clock, directing efforts to restore the Ukrzaliznytsia system,' the company reported.
Currently, the official website of 'Ukrzaliznytsia' is not available, and purchasing tickets through banking is impossible. Users are warned about the temporary inconveniences related to the scheduled maintenance works on the company's server.
Bonuses for passengers from 'Ukrzaliznytsia'
Ukrzaliznytsia will introduce a temporary partial compensation for the inconveniences:
- passengers with paper tickets purchased during the cyberattack can freely use paid waiting rooms;
- passengers with such paper tickets will be served free tea on board the trains by the company;
- after the system is restored, 'Ukrzaliznytsia' will launch additional 'compliments' for passengers and their partners, as an apology for the inconveniences.
