SBU Charges Director of TV Channel 'Spas': The Allegations Against Korchevnikov Explained.
Criminal Charges for Boris Korchevnikov
According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has formally charged Boris Korchevnikov under three articles of the Ukrainian Criminal Code for his work on the pro-Kremlin television channel 'Spas'. The accusations center on his justification of Russian aggression against Ukraine, a grave offense under Ukrainian law.
Boris Korchevnikov, known as the head of the 'Spas' channel and a former actor in the series 'Cadets', faces charges under Articles 110, 436-2, and 332-2 of the Criminal Code. According to the SBU, he not only excused Russian war crimes but also called for the seizure of Ukraine. His activities reportedly included visits to Ukraine's temporarily occupied territories in 2022–2023, underscoring the seriousness of his actions.
Broader SBU Crackdown
The SBU issued the charges against Korchevnikov in absentia in March 2025. This case is part of a wider campaign targeting individuals who spread propaganda supporting Russia's invasion. Among those also charged in absentia are:
- Vladimir Solovyov
- Olga Skabeyeva
- Konstantin Kevorkyan
- Nikolai Baskov
These moves highlight an intensified effort by Ukrainian law enforcement to counter propaganda that fuels aggression against the country.
This development underscores Ukraine's growing focus on holding propagandists accountable for supporting Russia's war. The charges against Korchevnikov and other media figures are part of a broader strategy to combat disinformation and the ongoing information war amid the conflict. Observers may view these actions as a sign of further steps by Ukrainian authorities to address information threats that could sway public opinion and endanger national security.
