SBU detains agent from Transnistria who attempted to steal Ukraine's drone technology.
The Security Service has detained an individual working for Russian intelligence near Odesa. It turned out to be a citizen of Transnistria, who was trying to acquire military developments in the field of unmanned systems. This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
The malefactor arrived in Odesa with the aim of recruiting a serviceman who works with drones for collaboration. He hoped to obtain technical documentation on the latest strike and reconnaissance Ukrainian UAVs through him.
According to the report, at all stages the spy reported to his Russian curator, who works in the Main Intelligence Directorate and is the Deputy Minister of Defense of Transnistria.
The malefactor was detained while crossing the border when he attempted to import a flash drive containing secret information about UAVs, posing as an entrepreneur importing Ukrainian food products.
The Security Service continued to document all the malefactor's actions, which allowed for his detention while trying to obtain secret information about UAVs. Evidence established that the malefactor's goal was to smuggle this information to Transnistria for the production of combat drones for the Russian Federation.
The detained agent has been charged under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for espionage and illegal handling of weapons. For these crimes, he faces up to 15 years in prison with asset confiscation.
Additionally, the Security Service has banned Romanian politician Diana Jovanovich-Shoshoake from entering Ukraine for three years, as she expressed Russian narratives and called for the seizure of Ukrainian territories.
Prosecutors supported punishment for agents who carried out a missile strike on Ivano-Frankivsk airport during Russia's invasion in the appellate court.
