Mykhailo Fedorov's Achievements and Setbacks as Ukraine's Defense Minister

According to Espreso.tv: Mykhailo Fedorov, who served as Ukraine's defense minister, highlighted the role of innovation and organization in modern warfare while detailing both the successes and failures of his team. In a Telegram post, he emphasized major improvements in the country's defense capabilities, particularly in intercepting enemy drones and cruise missiles. During his tenure, Ukraine faced ongoing Russian aggression, making these advancements critical to national security.

Among the key accomplishments under Fedorov's leadership at the Defense Ministry, the drone interception rate rose from 83% to 91%, while the rate for cruise missiles jumped from 47% to 87%. These figures reflect the effectiveness of new strategies and technologies being integrated into military operations. A dedicated program was launched to support modern drone assault units. Additionally, $40 billion in financial support was allocated for this year, excluding a European loan.

Military Infrastructure and International Cooperation

Furthermore, a 70% advance payment system was introduced for purchases through the eBaly platform on the Brave1 Market portal, enabling faster delivery of essential equipment to military units. Thousands of pickup trucks, buggies, and ATVs were procured for military infrastructure. On the international stage, a contract was signed to acquire Gripen fighter jets, underscoring Ukraine's active collaboration with foreign partners.

Fedorov acknowledged that his tenure also had its share of setbacks. Despite these challenges, he stressed that his team continued working to improve the situation. Three Ramstein-format meetings were held to discuss defense strategy and support for Ukraine. The Trophy Lab was established to study Russian military developments, and the Defense AI Center A1 was launched to integrate artificial intelligence into combat operations.

'It was a great honor to serve the Ukrainian people as defense minister' — Mykhailo Fedorov

He also expressed gratitude to those defending Ukraine: 'I thank every man and woman who protects Ukraine and works for victory. I thank my entire team for their effective service 24/7.' These remarks underscore the importance of teamwork and the efforts being made to ensure the country's security during wartime.

Fedorov's statements reflect not only the achievements of Ukraine's Defense Ministry but also the complexity of the current situation caused by the war. The rising interception rates for drones and missiles indicate improved military capabilities, yet the need to address failures highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the Ukrainian army.
