The police have completed the investigation of the judges of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi court in the Odesa region, who organized a scheme for transporting draft dodgers abroad using fake documents. Currently, 6 individuals have pleaded guilty after agreements with the investigation, and another 5 have confessed to the crimes.

This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

Details of the Case

A criminal organized group operated within the judicial system of Odesa, helping conscripted men illegally leave the country to avoid mobilization. The scheme involved the mass issuance of court decisions regarding child custody by fathers under fabricated circumstances, allowing them to avoid conscription and leave the country under the guise of child care, for which clients paid 3500 US dollars each. A total of 1040 similar cases have been established by the investigation.

The perpetrators created a back-office for the court in a law office and advertised their services on social media for concealment.

Legal Qualification

The suspects are charged under articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: receiving undue benefits, providing undue benefits, organizing illegal border crossing, obstructing lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and illegal interference in the operation of automated justice systems.

  • 5 suspects have admitted their guilt. These include former judicial assistants Nataliia Kudakova and Inna Taruta, deputy head of the court apparatus Olha Kiyashko, consultant Oleg Monar, and assistant lawyer Pavlo Petukhov. Another 6 individuals have reached agreements with the investigation.
  • Five defendants received 3 years of conditional sentences and are required to pay sums in support of the Armed Forces: court employees - 10 and 60 thousand UAH, assistant lawyer - 240 thousand UAH.
