Candidate for US Congress Burns Quran in Video: Public Reaction.
Controversial Candidate Video
According to The Sun: The video in which Republican candidate Valentina Gomez from Texas burns the Quran with a flamethrower has generated significant backlash. In her anti-Islamic campaign advertisement, she claims she aims to 'end Islam' in Texas, despite the fact that Muslims make up only 1% of the state's population.

Gomez's Controversial Statements
Gomez, who is participating in the GOP primary for Texas's 31st congressional district, has sparked outrage with her publication of the video where she burns the sacred book of Muslims. She stated:
“America is a Christian nation, so these Muslim terrorists can *** in any of the 57 Muslim countries.”
Additionally, she claimed:
“There is only one true God, and that is the God of Israel.”
This is not the first time Gomez has expressed Islamophobic views. Earlier this year, she interrupted a Muslim event in Texas, claiming Islam is a 'religion of rape, incest, and pedophilia,' mocking Muslim prayers and calling the prophet Muhammad a 'false prophet.'
Gomez also promotes hateful rhetoric against the LGBT community, Black individuals, and immigrants. Last year, she posted a video where she burned LGBT books, captioning it:
“When I become Secretary of State, I will be BURNING all books that indoctrinate, indoctrinate and sexualize our children. MAGA. America First.”
Recently she also shocked voters by stating in another video:
“In America, you can be anyone, just don’t be weak and gay.”
TiktokGomez's content has been repeatedly removed from social media for violations of hate speech and violent behavior policies[/caption>
Societal Criticism
Following the release of her video on Monday, representatives from various segments of society quickly reacted to Gomez's actions. Podcaster Brian Allen wrote on X:
“Candidate in Texas, Valentina Gomez, just released a campaign ad burning the Quran and promising to 'end Islam in Texas.' This act is not politics, it's incitement.”
Another X user noted:
“Get out of my state. There is no place for intolerance and hateful people who do not believe in basic human rights such as the FIRST AMENDMENT that allows freedom of religion.”
Despite Gomez positioning herself as a MAGA activist, she has not received support from Donald Trump. As of June 30, she raised just over $7,000 for her campaign, according to the Federal Election Commission data. Last year, she was banned from Instagram.
This situation prompts a discussion on the topic of hate and intolerance in society, highlighting the importance of dialogue and understanding between different cultures and beliefs. The Congressional elections may serve as a crucial moment in clarifying American society's attitude towards such extreme statements and actions.
