Sybiha reported details of a possible meeting between Zelensky and Putin.
The presidents of Ukraine and Russia may meet at the same table
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha announced the start of work on organizing a meeting at the level of the presidents of Ukraine and Russia. Talks about a possible meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Volodymyr Putin are being conducted in an expanded format.
«The third position we are working on is a meeting at the level of presidents. Between President of Ukraine Zelensky and Putin. We assume that this meeting may be in an expanded format. We would very much like President Trump to join it. We always act consistently and insist that Europe should be present at the table of potential future negotiations»
After the meeting of the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul on May 16, the exchange of prisoners and the preparation for a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine were agreed upon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has already received information from the Spanish side about the death of former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. Further interaction with the relevant authorities is expected for further response.
Currently, Ukrainian law enforcement officials have not yet defined their participation in the investigation of this case or the date of the repatriation of the deceased to Ukraine.
It should be noted that an attempt to bring together the presidents of Ukraine and Russia could be an important step in resolving the conflict in Donbas and normalizing relations between the countries.
