Ukraine Strikes 76 Vessels From Russia’s 'Shadow Fleet' – New Details Emerge.
Targeting Russia's 'Shadow Fleet'
According to Espreso.tv: Between July 6 and July 11, Ukrainian forces struck a series of Russian military assets and vessels tied to Moscow's so-called 'shadow fleet,' according to Robert Brovdi, commander of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The SBU reported 76 ships were hit during that period, with 73 confirmed direct impacts. These strikes were part of a broader campaign aimed at degrading Russian military positions in temporarily occupied territories.
Strikes on Military Targets
Over the course of one night, Ukrainian forces launched attacks on 53 military targets in Crimea and southern Ukraine. Among the hit locations were the Starobesheve combined-arms training ground, a communications hub of Russia’s 14th Army Corps, and a site where the 1194th Motorized Rifle Regiment was holding an awards ceremony. As part of the operation dubbed 'Crimean Switch Off,' running from July 1 to July 10, Ukrainian forces also struck 60 energy facilities—51 in Crimea and southern Ukraine, and 9 in the east.
In the past 24 hours, nine energy installations were hit, including several in Crimea:
- 'Berehove'
- 'Mainaky'
- 'Novoozerna'
- 'Saky'
- 'Medvedieve'
- Saky Thermal Power Plant
Additional strikes targeted facilities in the temporarily occupied areas of Volnovakha, Sentyanivka, Kalynove, and Sofiivka.
Robert Brovdi noted: 'The shadow oil fleet is visibly thinning out; the week of defaults continues. It appears that traffic through the Kerch Strait has been halted.'
Units involved in these operations included the 'Madar's Birds' of the 414th Separate Brigade, the 20th Separate Brigade 'K-2,' the 1st Separate Center of the SBU, the 413th Separate Regiment 'Reid,' the 412th Separate Brigade 'Nemesis,' and the 427th Separate Brigade 'Rarog.' These actions underscore an intensification of Ukrainian efforts to disrupt Russian military infrastructure and logistics.
The latest reports highlight the ongoing campaign to weaken Russia's military foothold in the region. By targeting energy and military assets, Ukraine aims to limit Moscow’s operational capabilities and economic leverage. These operations reflect a strategic approach to the war, emphasizing the need for continued international support to sustain such efforts.
