Battlefield Update on the Kostiantynivka Axis
According to UATV: As of June 21, Ukrainian troops have successfully pushed back 11 assaults by Russian forces in the Kostiantynivka sector of Donetsk Oblast. The defenders continue to hold the Shevchenko district in Chasiv Yar, a critical stronghold in the fight against the aggressor. Despite some tactical gains by Russian troops within the urban areas of Kostiantynivka, Ukrainian soldiers remain actively engaged in resistance operations.
Before the full-scale invasion, Kostiantynivka was home to over 78,000 residents; today, fewer than 2,500 civilians remain. Over the past month, Russian forces have suffered heavy casualties—910 soldiers, including 395 killed and 515 wounded. Within the city itself, more than 700 occupiers from infiltration groups have been eliminated.
Prolonged Fighting and Its Toll
Clashes around Kostiantynivka have now lasted roughly 12 months, and the situation stays tense. Russian attacks have been recorded in the following areas:
- Ilyinivka
- Sofiivka
- Pleshcheyivka
- Rusyn Yar
- Kucherovyi Yar
This highlights the enemy's continued activity along this front. Despite the challenging circumstances, Ukraine's defense forces are persistently fighting to maintain territorial control.
