The Armed Forces of Ukraine are implementing robots for the evacuation of the wounded: new technologies at the front.
According to ТСН: The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, held a meeting where he discussed the directions of development for the medical service and set priorities for January 2026. The main focus was on the implementation of robots in difficult areas and the creation of underground hospitals.
The Commander reported this on Telegram after a video conference with combat medics.
New evacuation challenges
According to Syrskyi, modern warfare conditions have become extremely dangerous for evacuation groups. The enemy's impact zone, referred to as the 'kill zone', can now extend over 20 km, complicating traditional evacuation methods.
'Drones for evacuation are becoming the main, and sometimes the only possible means of rescue in difficult tactical conditions,' emphasized the Commander-in-Chief.
Key solutions and innovations
Ground robotic complexes (GRC): robots perform CASEVAC functions, picking up the wounded directly from the frontline and delivering them to medical points. This approach is already successfully implemented in the Pokrovsk direction, where fierce battles are ongoing.
Underground stabilization points: The experience of the 81st Separate Air Assault Brigade in creating deep and camouflaged medical points has been recognized as successful. Syrskyi ordered to expand this network along the entire front line for safer operations by medical personnel.
Updating first aid kits: Specialists of the 3rd Army Corps are working on improving individual first aid kits to ensure that the speed of self-aid meets the requirements of 2026.
Plans for January 2026
The Commander emphasized that his priority is not just dry statistics, but real experience from medics in the 'fields'. Three main directions have been identified for the first month of the year:
Deployment of drone evacuation systems.
Construction of a network of underground stabilization points.
Improving interaction between units during the transfer of the wounded.
'Preserving the lives of our military is an unconditional priority,' concluded Oleksandr Syrskyi, thanking the medics for their work in the new year.
It should be noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine plan a new contract system: Syrskyi explained the key changes.
The introduction of new medical technologies and approaches has been a response to modern challenges faced by medics in active combat conditions. The development of underground hospital points and robotics in evacuation will increase the safety of both military personnel and medical staff working under fire. Continuing the modernization of first aid kits will be an important step towards providing faster and more effective medical assistance to the wounded.
