Syrskyi revealed the tactics of the Russian Federation on the Pokrovskyi direction: how the Armed Forces of Ukraine repel a thousand cuts.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi shared his observations regarding the situation on the Pokrovskyi direction. According to him, Russian troops managed to gain some advantage due to their offensive tactics in the area.
Russia rapidly changes the rules of the game on the Pokrovskyi direction
Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that despite the enemy's activity, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are still able to provide logistics in the Pokrovskyi direction. Russian troops are using a tactic known as 'a thousand cuts', which involves advancing small assault groups across a wide front.
'The enemy decided to apply the 'a thousand cuts' tactic in this direction – this is when small groups storm a wide territory. They managed to advance 10-12 km into several of our settlements and suddenly attack our positions', the commander commented.
He also explained that the terrain complicates control over the line of contact due to many ravines, rivers, and greenery in the summer. The absence of a clear front line contributes to the uncertainty of the situation, but thanks to the paratroopers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it was possible to repel this territory from the enemy.
However, Russian troops are trying to cut off Ukrainian logistics routes in the northern direction, where the 51st combined arms army of the Russian Federation is advancing, created based on the former 1st army corps of the 'DPR'.
In captivity or destroyed are predominantly young fighters from the 132nd Horlivka Brigade, some of whom were mobilized from various regions, including Russia. Syrskyi also warned of a possible intensification of the Russian offensive in another direction, which he had previously warned about.
Despite this, Ukrainian troops continue to successfully advance on two front lines.
Oleksandr Syrskyi revealed the critical situation on the Pokrovskyi direction, where Russian troops are attempting to undermine Ukrainian logistics communications. The high activity of the enemy and the complex terrain complicate the defense, but Ukrainian troops successfully hold back and push the enemy back on two fronts.
